We pride ourselves on featuring "emerging artists" but let face it - what is "an emerging artist" anyways? For 2011, let's posit that it’s someone who doesn't yet have a Wikipedia page.
Could this be where we've come to? After all, Miley Cyrus not only has a Wiki listing, but she has 152 footnotes to prove she's an important, discovered artist. Justin Bieber? 111 footnotes and a spreadsheet of awards and nominations. Even one hit wonder "Benny Mardones" has a wiki-page.
Is there anyone left?
Well, Jason Spooner doesn’t yet have a wiki page and tongue proudly stuck in cheek, we're happy to say he's an official "Emerging Artist" being featured at Bonefish Grill.
Jason and his eponymous trio hail from Portland, Maine which is one of the true gems of the Northeast. Part Paul Simon, part JJ Cale with a dash of Neil Young thrown in along with a few lost seafarers make Jason Spooner a formidable talent to listen to now and to watch further in the coming years.
We're currently featuring 4 of Jason's songs including a stellar remake of Terence Trent D'Arby's "Wishing Well." Check-out Jason and his latest album "Sea Monster" quickly before he gets his long overdue Wiki page. That way, you'll always be able to say, "I've heard this totally great emerging artist"..... Enjoy!
