The Cape Coral Caring Center will receive $6,500 from a fundraising event Saturday at the new Bonefish Grill restaurant on Pine Island Road in the Cape.
The money was raised in about two hours, according to Beth Sanger, executive director of the Cape Coral Community Foundation,which partnered with the restaurant to sponsor the event..
"On behalf of the staff and Board of Directors of the Cape Coral Community Foundation, we would like to thank the Bonefish Grill staff for a fantastic fundraising event Saturday night!," Sanger said. "It was a wonderful opportunity to partner with such a generous business who wanted to support the community prior to opening to the public.
"The Bonefish Grill was extremely generous with putting this event together. They included the food, drinks, invitations and postage. The Cape Coral Community Foundation was very excited to partner with this restaurant to help feed people in need within our community.
The restaurant officially opens to the public at 4 p.m. today.
"The Cape Coral Community Foundation strives to meet the needs in the community through its grant making process as well as helping individuals reach their philanthropic goals," Sanger said. "By working together the Cape Coral Community Foundation and businesses like the Bonefish Grill, we are able to enhance the quality life in the Cape Coral community."
